Casting is well underway for the stars of WOMADelaide 2018 (S26:E01) and we're pretty chuffed with how this one is coming together.

As usual we'll be bringing you a diverse range of musical forms from around the world - a "journey of discovery" if you will - some names you may know and some you may not (yet!). Myf Warhurst dropped by Radio National to chat with Fran Kelly last week to play some tunes and chat about what makes WOMADelaide so special to her - "It feels like a whole festival to me, it's not just saying music is the only thing, it's a festival you learn a lot at." Billboard - Exclusive Listen to Havana Meets Kingston

Mista Savona's new record 'Havana Meets Kingston' is out November 3rd on all major streaming platforms, but Billboard have been granted a first listen to 'Chan Chan' a few days early. Recorded in the same studio as the original from Buena Vista Social Club, 'Chan Chan' gives us a sneak peak into the Cuban-Jamaican version of the ultra-super-mega-classic Buena Vista tune. LISTEN>


Thievery Corporation & Anoushka Shankar

Bringing together a diverse range of music influences, from hip-hop, Indian trip-hop, dub, French torch songs and shoe-gazer bliss, Thievery Corporation have opened up their world of music to collaborations with some massive names. Fellow WOMADelaide 2018 artist Anoushka Shankar collaborated with Thievery Corporation for their track 'Mandala' in 2008, bringing her sitar to their ethereal and complex mixture of sounds.


Yirrmal - Live TV Debut

Yirrmal produced a powerful performance on Q&A in August, performing 'Spirit of Place’ live across Australia. Have a look back below.


70 Minutes of Live Bixiga 70

Bixiga 70 are going to be one of THE party bands at this year's WOMADelaide, with the Brazilian Afrobeat masters taking their South American funk to dizzying heights. They played a massive live show earlier in the year at 'Jazz a Vienne' to an adoring crowd, a taste of what is to come at WOMADelaide next year.


Kamasi Washington's 'Harmony of Difference' is epic...

Two years on from his massive three-hour, three-disc debut album 'The Epic', Kamasi Washington returned with the much anticipated Harmony of Difference. The (much shorter) EP landed in September and is likewise getting great reviews from publications such as The Guardian and Pitchfork (who gave it an 8.5/10). "Though Washington is a fine tenor soloist, the essence of his artistry is found in his explosively grand compositions and arrangements." READ>


Daymé Arocena Talks 'Cubafonia'

Following on from live appearances on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert and BBC Music, Daymé Arocena launched her brand new album Cubafonia earlier this year, leading to accolades from the Guardian as ‘Cuba’s finest vocalist’. Daymé describes Cubafonia as 'an album that sounds like 21st Century Cuba' and we couldn't agree more. Check out the behind the scenes of the making of Cubafonia here!
