Online applications are open until 1 August 2019.
WOMAD is the World of Music, Arts & Dance. WOMADelaide, the Australian WOMAD, started in 1992 and is a 4-day festival held in March in Botanic Park, Adelaide, South Australia.
The festival presents around 45 international groups – bands, dance companies, 4 DJs and site/street theatre artists – as well as around 25 Australian bands.
The program is developed between May and October. WOMADelaide also produces the international program for WOMAD New Zealand, held in New Plymouth, NZ on the weekend after WOMADelaide.
Broadly speaking, the festivals program traditional and contemporary original music of a very high standard. Commercial rock, opera and urban/R&B are not usually featured and a strong live show is an important consideration. A brand new program is presented each year and most international artists have not performed in Australia or Adelaide before. Artists may be invited to return after a break of five (5) or more years.
The first program announcement is made in mid October and the final program announcement in late November. For previous programs see our website archives.
