The 2020 Welcome to Country will be conducted by Jamie Goldsmith and dance group Taikurtinna (which means 'family' in the Kaurna language).
Jamie will also lead three workshops as part of Uncle Stevie’s Kaurna Classroom in KidZone on the Monday. The Classroom is named in honour of Jamie’s late father, Stephen Gadlabarti Goldsmith, a Kaurna, Narungga and Ngarrindjeri man from SA, who was an artist, educator, storyteller and advocate for reconciliation. Read more about Jamie's community leadership and work HERE.
WOMADelaide acknowledges the Kaurna people as the Traditional Owners of country in which the festival is presented and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
