WOMADelaide, to be held 11-14 March in Botanic Park, Adelaide, today announced that legendary French DJ and producer St Germain will headline the Sunday night of the festival, confirming the many rumours that have been swirling on social media.

The multi platinum-selling artist, who is returning to Australia with a new self-titled release after a 15 year recording and touring hiatus, is one of the most revered figures in the world of electronic music. A pioneer of what has become known as the “French Touch” and a creator of intelligent and original deep house, French producer Ludovic Navarre, better know as St Germain, has always stood out.

His debut album “Boulevard” sold millions and his last album “Tourist” was also a worldwide sensation. With the release of the new “St Germain” album, Navarre has again redefined the musical meeting point between electronic, jazz and ‘world’ music. The album is an exceptional musical journey, recorded with African musicians in Paris and featuring traditional Malian instruments including the kora and the n’goni, entwined with electric guitar, piano, saxophone and electronic loops.

WOMADelaide Director Ian Scobie said that having a musical revolutionary such as St Germain headlining the Sunday night of the 20th edition of WOMADelaide in 2016 is a major coup for the festival.

“St Germain is a unique artist whose music has transcended the past two decades and hosting him at WOMADelaide brings a new level of excitement to the festival program,” said Mr Scobie

St Germain joins  an already remarkable lineup of artists including the Grammy Award-winning Angélique Kidjo, the UK’s Mercury Prize nominated and politically charged Asian Dub Foundation, the stunning Israeli-born Ethiopian singer-actress Ester Rada and the acclaimed Tex-Mex indie band Calexico.
