With a percussive approach to guitar and deep roots in Afro-Brazilian rhythms, Alcides Neto creates music that invites reflection, celebration and connection. The Brazilian-born, Melbourne-based composer and multi-instrumentalist draws inspiration from the folk traditions of his homeland, blending regional styles with contemporary and experimental ideas. March 2026 sees the release of Alcides’ debut eight-track album, featuring a mix of instrumental pieces and playful, lyric-driven songs inspired by his childhood. He has performed across Melbourne, including at the iconic Jazz Lab and at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival in 2025. He will be joined by a six-piece band for his debut shows in Adelaide.
