From the Frafra tribal homelands of northern Ghana, Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy play gospel like you have never heard. Theirs is an Afro-futuristic firework of intense vocal explosions, carried by West African highlife rhythms from The Savannah. Add in brass, synthesiser and a rolling rhythm section and you get a unique blend of joyful, high-energy vibrant gospel music. Alogte Oho came to international attention after the German producer Max Weissenfeldt visited the Frafra region, and heard one of Oho’s songs playing from a speaker at a bus station. They went on to record together, taking Oho’s music to the world. Alogte Oho and his band have now performed across Europe, including Roskilde in Denmark, Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival in France, and at Glastonbury in the UK.
