Canadian ensemble BADBADNOTGOOD made their name by crossing genres. Their seamless movement between styles has seen them take hip-hop into jazz and vice versa, finding audiences in both scenes. Further proving their genre fluidity, they’ve collaborated with the likes of Turnstile, Kaytranada, V.C.R, MF DOOM, and Little Dragon. BADBADNOTGOOD formed in 2010, moving between three and four members before establishing its current lineup. The band members met through the Humber College jazz program in Toronto, where they sidestepped traditional jazz standards and drew from hip-hop and other contemporary genres to create a unique sound rooted in Black American music. Focus, energy and improvisation are at the heart of their thrilling live shows, as they approach each song as a living thing that naturally evolves as it is played in different settings.
