Physical theatre ensemble Born in a Taxi (BIAT) become mascots for a higher consciousness in Higher Order. They guide the audience in one-on-one sensory experiences and collective play, creating mesmerising choreography as they move. Using the gravitas of ritual and the lightness of play to reunite the audience with their senses, they are sometimes humorous, always majestic and deeply respectful, yet mischievous. BIAT mix dance with humour, the profound with the profane and the familiar with the unlikely to produce highly original, physically driven and participatory works in site-specific and outdoor contexts. The company’s diverse performance backgrounds and ensemble movement improvisation create a performance style that lives somewhere between the cracks of theatre and dance.
