Lords of psych-funk Altın Gün have been hitting the wah-wah pedal since 2018, propagating the revival of Turkish music around the world.
The quintet effortlessly captures the spirit of Anatolian 70s psych-funk masters Bariş Manço and Erkin Koray; bringing the sound into a new age, while maintaining a strong link to the same Anatolian folk traditions that inspired these early pioneers. On their first album since the departure of vocalist and keyboardist Merve Daşdemir, Altın Gün bring their connection to folk front and centre, showcasing a collection of songs all originally written by Turkish folk legend Neşet Ertaş on Garip. The Northern Summer of 2026 saw the band appear at festivals such as Fuji Rock and Sziget, topping the season off with a performance for BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall, featuring fellow Anatolian folk messenger Derya Yıldırım.
