You’ve never seen anyone play the accordion like this. Belarusian-born, Poland-based accordionist and composer Yegor Zabelov enters a trance-like state when the instrument is strapped to his body, wielding it like an extension of himself. This is a longform sonic journey, where the accordion breathes, rattles, whispers and surges in massive waves of sound, transforming each performance into an intense and immersive live experience.
Zabelov has performed at festivals and showcases including Eurosonic Noorderslag (The Netherlands), WOMEX, and Rudolstadt Festival (Germany). He is a recipient of the Gaude Polonia Scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture, a Cultural Scholarship from the City of Gdańsk, and the Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award for experimental music.
Don’t miss Yegor Zabelov’s WOMADelaide debut; you’ll be utterly drawn in at the first haunting wheeze.
