Afrobeat sensation and Grammy-nominated singer and saxophonist Seun Kuti is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. Leading his father’s former band Egypt 80, he has preserved and extended his father’s political and musical legacy, while putting his own charismatic spin on the music and digging deep into African traditions to reflect the continent's struggles and cultures. Seun started playing with Egypt 80 at the age of nine and took the helm at 14, when his father died in 1997. In 2019, Seun and Egypt 80 were nominated for a Grammy for their album Black Times in the global music category. The band has toured extensively, including a memorable, high-energy performance at Glastonbury in 2022. Seun recently released the African Dreams EP, featuring the Roots’ frontman and MC extraordinaire Black Thought, which reached the top 20 on the American Independent Radio Charts. In 2023 he collaborated on Janelle Monae's Grammy-nominated album with two singles: Float and Knows Better. With an undeniable stage presence, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80’s live shows are nothing short of exhilarating, sweaty, high-energy affairs.
